It’s all about the greyhounds…

GPA Salt Lake is proud to be a sub-chapter of Greyhound Pets of America.  Our mission is to find loving, responsible homes for retired racing greyhounds and to educate the public about their fantastic qualities and availability as pets.  We are an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(C) (3) organization located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Greyhound Pets of America is the largest greyhound adoption group in the U.S.A., and since it opened its doors in 1987 has adopted over 71,000 greyhounds into loving homes!

Foster homes needed!  All of our retired hounds rely on foster homes to stay in while awaiting adoption.  Fostering a greyhound is a fun and rewarding experience for the whole family!  Full-time jobs/kids/other pets are ok.  Please click on the following link for more information about fostering, and a touching video tribute called “You’ll Be In My Heart” made by long-time foster mom Nan Lassiter: foster info

GPA Salt Lake would like to thank the Race for Adoption Program and Angela Wilson-Taylor, owner of Climbin’ Rainbows, for their contributions to GPA Salt Lake.  Climbin’ Rainbows is now retired, but his purse winnings, donated to GPA Salt Lake and GPA Springfield-MO will continue to help other greyhounds find their forever homes.

OUR DOGS: Check this page for an application and to see information about our available greyhounds.  You just might find your perfect dog on this page, but keep in mind that there are always many more hounds available than we are able to put on the site.  Contact us or fill out an application if you’d like to adopt but don’t see the hound of your dreams on this page.  And don’t forget to check out our #1 mascot, Ski Hound!  Isn’t he adorable?  Click on his picture in the navigation bar to see some exclusive Ski Hound merchandise that no Utah greyhound lover should be without!  15% goes to GPA Salt Lake.

*NOTE* you might notice the fact that we have often used the words “he”, “his”, “him”, etc. when referring to greyhounds in the information pages.  We don’t mean to be gender biased, really!  It’s just that we had to choose one or the other to write the pages the way we thought they ought to be written, so we tossed a coin.
